If you have more than one child, it is important that you pay the same amount of attention to all of them, no matter what their ages are. You do not want one child to be neglected– this could cause them to show resentment toward you when they get older.

Even though you may get tired of your mother’s advice, you should always listen to what she says. Remember that she has, at the very least, raised you so she does have some previous experience. Also know when it is time to tell your relatives to back off a little. Advice is welcome, commands shouldn’t be.

If your baby is irritable and not relaxing as quickly as you want him to, head to the bathroom with him. Make yourself comfortable on the toilet and rock your baby as you have the exhaust fan and the faucet running. These sounds mimic the sounds of the noise of the heartbeat in the uterus.

Your marriage is just as important as your children, so take good care of it. You need time together as a couple to ensure that you keep the passion alive, so make sure to have a date night once a week where it’s just you and your spouse. The kids will be there when you get home!

Give your child choices whenever you can. This can help to avoid the never ending battle of trying to get your child to do the one thing you want. A child is responsive to choices, even at a young age. It lets them feel a sense of control and accomplishment.

Praise your children. Some parents are very good at focusing on the negative, but forget about the positive. When a child is praised it lets them know that their parents love and appreciate them. It also makes them more likely to repeat positive behaviors. Try to look for something to praise your child about at least once a day.

Give your toddler a real treat for his or her birthday, by going an entire day without saying “No.” So long as they aren’t in danger, allow them to spend the day doing what they want. Your child can have to opportunity to do fun things, such as, making forts out of the furniture, running around naked or painting in the bathtub. Your child will be delighted and the experience gives you some insight into how much your preferences, shape your toddler’s typical day.
